We emphasize positive dog training methods through rewards-based training, offering private lessons from the comfort of your own home.

Our mission is to provide your dog with the skills to be a fun and loving member of your family.  When dogs have “good manners”, they become an essential part of your life and can participate in more of the things you do.  This means more fun for you and your dog!

Our basic dog obedience training "curriculum" includes the following skills, and can be customized to include any additional skills you would like your dog to learn:

• Food Lure
• Release
• Focus
• Sit
• Sit-Stay
• Come
• Down
• Down-Stay
• Loose Leash Walking
• Leave It

We also address common problem behaviors, including:

• Jumping
• Puppy Nipping and Mouthing
• Unruly Behavior in the House
• Begging
• Stealing Food
• Jumping on the Furniture
• Excessive Barking
• Inappropriate Chewing
• Coprophagia (Stool Eating)
• Housetraining
• Digging
• Bolting
  

Each lesson includes personalized written handouts detailing homework assignments to reinforce behaviors covered during training sessions.

Amy, Reigning Pets NW's Dog Trainer, is:

• A dog training student at Animal Behavior College (ABC), where Amy has passed all written exams with a 98% average.  As part of the formal education program through ABC, Amy is currently training shelter dogs on a volunteer basis at the Oregon Humane Society as well as assisting in teaching dog training classes at Petco under the tutelage of a mentor trainer as part of an 18-week mentoring program.
• Actively working toward earning her CPDT designation as well as becoming an AKC Canine Good Citizen® Evaluator.
• Has trained dogs in what she likes to call "manners" training, for the past two and a half years.
  
• Remaining current on the latest techniques in dog training by reading books about dog behavior and by applying those concepts to real-life situations with hundreds of dogs of a wide variety of breeds and sizes.
• A former volunteer at Virginia Woof Dog Daycare in Portland learning appropriate off-leash dog behavior under the tutelage of an experienced CPDT.

Our rate is $35/hour for private, in-home lessons.
